Q: What is an UpCloud Snapshot?

An UpCloud snapshot is a complete backup of a storage device, capturing all the data and system state at a specific moment in time, which can be used for efficient data recovery or to quickly deploy new instances with identical configurations. It allows users to safeguard their data and ensure operational continuity with minimal downtime.

Q: How does Snapshot works?

We have developed connectors to a list of infrastructure providers (DigitalOcean, AWS, ...). This allows us to trigger some of their core functionalities which includes creating snapshot of servers and volumes. Using SimpleBackups you can thus schedule and automate your snapshots by: Connect your server provider account Select the server/volume you want to schedule a snapshot for And you’re done!

Q: Where are my Snapshots stored?

All snapshots are stored on your provider cloud. SimpleBackups will hook into your provider API and orchestrate all backups. Snapshots never leave your provider.
