On the storage you choose. Connect your own cloud storage or on-premises server, or let us store them with SimpleStorage. Your data is sent straight to that storage and never transits through our infrastructure (Serverless backups are streamed, never stored on our end).
No, and we recommend against it. Connect directly over SSH with the least permissions possible, or install the headless agent once and run backups from your server, behind firewalls and NAT gateways, with no open ports or IP allowlists.
Everything is encrypted at rest and in transit with AES-256. You can add your own private key so only you can ever decrypt your backups, and we support SSE-C for encryption on the storage provider side.
Use the one-click restore or a custom restore method to recover your data from any backup, and share the payload with your team or customers.
Storage secrets and SSH credentials can’t be viewed from your account, backups on your offsite storage can’t be deleted from it, and encrypted backups stay unreadable without your private key. Even if your account is deleted, your backups stay on your storage.
We’re ISO 27001 certified since 2023 and audited yearly, and GDPR compliant. We’re not yet SOC 2 or HIPAA certified, but our controls are aligned with both and we can provide security reports for your review.
