FAQ

Frequently asked questions about SaaS app backups.

This page covers common questions about backing up data from third-party SaaS applications with SimpleBackups. If your question is not answered here, contact our support team.

Which SaaS applications does SimpleBackups support?

SimpleBackups currently supports backups for GitHub, GitLab, Gitea, Notion, and Knack. Each application requires API credentials to connect. See the individual provider guides for setup instructions.

How often can I run SaaS app backups?

You can schedule SaaS app backups to run at any interval supported by your SimpleBackups plan. You can also run backups on demand from the backup summary page.

Where is my SaaS app backup data stored?

Your backup data is stored on the cloud storage provider you configure in SimpleBackups. SimpleBackups does not retain your backup data on its own servers — it is transferred directly to your chosen storage destination.

Can I restore a SaaS app backup?

Restore capabilities vary by application. Notion backups can be restored directly from SimpleBackups. For GitHub and GitLab, you restore by pushing the backed-up repository to a new remote. For Knack, you import the CSV files back into your tables. See each provider guide for detailed restore instructions.

What happens if my API token expires or is revoked?

If your API token becomes invalid, SimpleBackups cannot access the application and backups will fail. You will receive a notification about the failure. To resolve this, generate a new token in the application and update it in your SimpleBackups backup configuration.
