Server & volume snapshots
Automate native cloud snapshots for your servers and volumes across multiple providers.
Cloud snapshots are point-in-time images of your entire server or storage volume, created directly by your hosting provider. SimpleBackups orchestrates snapshot creation, scheduling, and retention so you do not have to manage them manually. Snapshots are ideal for disaster recovery because they capture everything — the operating system, installed software, configurations, and data — in a single image.
How snapshots differ from file backups
Snapshots are full server images stored by your cloud provider. They cannot be downloaded or transferred to another provider. File backups, on the other hand, archive specific directories and can be stored on any supported storage provider. For a complete backup strategy, combine snapshots with file and database backups.
Supported providers
SimpleBackups supports native snapshots for the following cloud providers: Amazon Lightsail, AWS EC2, Contabo, DigitalOcean, Exoscale, Hetzner, Linode, OVH, Scaleway, UpCloud, and Vultr. Each provider requires API credentials to allow SimpleBackups to create and manage snapshots on your behalf.
You can browse the full list on the hosting providers catalog.
