Automate Contabo server snapshots on a custom schedule.

SimpleBackups connects to your Contabo account through API credentials to create and manage server snapshots automatically. This guide walks you through generating Contabo API credentials and creating your first snapshot job.

Connect your Contabo account to SimpleBackups

Generate Contabo API credentials

  1. Log in to your Contabo Cloud Panel at my.contabo.com
  2. In the sidebar, navigate to API
  3. Click Generate New API Token
  4. Enter a name for your token, assign Read & Write permissions, and click Create Token

Add Contabo as a provider in SimpleBackups

  1. In SimpleBackups, navigate to the Snapshots section
  2. Click the + button to connect a new provider
  3. Select Contabo from the dropdown
  4. Enter a name for the connection and paste the API token and credentials
  5. Click Save provider

Create a snapshot backup job

With your Contabo account connected, you can set up a snapshot job.

  1. Account: Choose your connected Contabo account
  2. Resource: Under Resource Type, select Server. The Resource dropdown lists all servers linked to your Contabo account.
  3. Schedule and retention: Configure how often snapshots run and how many to keep
  4. Name and save: Enter a descriptive name and click Create Snapshot
